Where has all of the customer service gone?

Each day, we all use services provided to us by Drury University.
These services are put into place to make our lives go a little more smoothly and to assist us in our Drury experience.
Yet now it seems like each time I go into a place that is supposed to help me, I encounter rudeness, bitterness, laziness, and incompetence.
Where has all of the customer service gone on Drury's campus, and is it going to come back?
Drury takes great pride in the fact that it has one of the best faculty and staff, but how these members of the Drury community interact with students is sometimes different than that of the interaction they share with their collogues.
I am not trying to call any particular office or department out, but there are those who everyone knows that show all smiles to their collogues and the administration but once they are on a one on one basis with a student, the interaction quality is less than average.
I know it can be frustrating when working with students. That is no excuse to be rude. It seems like day after day, more people are treating others with less respect.
I remember a time when the customer was always right, when people said, "yes ma'am" and "yes sir." Anymore, replies come in all forms, some of them very tactless while others consist of complete silence.
More and more often, we as students are treated as if we are useless beings who know nothing.
However, this is not true; we know quite a bit, but there are things we do not know and this is why we ask questions. Please stop treating as though we are unintelligent.
Also, please understand that when you are rude and bitter to us, we have no respect for you and since you represent Drury, we no longer have respect for your department or office.
Being rude is like spreading a disease: it travels from person to person taking over until it infects someone. We are not asking you to be fake, but we are asking that you understand where we are coming from.
