In a recent issue of Sports Illustrated, the popular magazine heralded Drury's Bob Barker as being "The Year's Best Commencement Speaker."

Last May Drury's famous alumnus Bob Barker gave a joke-filled commencement speech to a crowded Weiser Gym audience.

"Bob Barker coming to Drury gave us national attention and I really enjoyed seeing someone I grew up watching on television in person," said Charles Neiss, senior. "I thought he was really funny and gave some wise advice that we could all relate to."

Barker graduated from Drury in 1947 with an economics degree and was the long time host of the game show "The Price Is Right" which ran for 35 years and won 17 Emmys.

The author of the SI article concluded with "I can't think of a better way to send graduates into the real world than by telling them 'Help control the pet population; have your pet spayed or neutered.'"

Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush, David Gavitt, Dick Vermeil, and Dick Cheney rounded out the year's top five best commencement speakers and George Clinton, Judson Laipply, Andre De Shields all made the list of the year's worst commencements speakers.
