The men's basketball team has shown no sign of struggling in making the transition from the Heartland Conference to the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

The Drury University Lady Panthers are the No. 2 ranked women's college basketball team nationally in the first regular season USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll released Tuesday, Dec. 6.

The Lady Panthers (6-0), trail only defending national champion Washburn in the rankings. The Lady Blues, also off to a 6-0 start, picked up 22 first-place votes and 667 total points in the voting to Drury's three and 644.

Drury will visit Topeka, Kan., on Dec. 17 to play Washburn in a 7 p.m. tipoff.
Seattle Pacific, North Dakota and Charleston round out the top five. Grand Valley State, which lost 76-69 at Drury last month, is ninth, and MInnesota Duluth, which fell to the Lady Panthers 74-60 in the season opener, is No. 25.

Fellow Great Lakes Valley Conference members Lewis, Quincy and Bellarmine are among the "others receiving votes" in the poll, as is Merrimack, which will play host to Drury in the Valley Cup Classic in North Andover, Mass., on Dec. 29.

The Lady Panthers are back in action this week, traveling to Truman State University tonight for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff before a break for Christmas.
